Smail seventh in Japan

David Smail has continued his good form on the Japan Golf Tour with a two under par 68 at the Crowns Championship to be in a share of seventh place after round one.

The five time winner on the Japan Golf Tour, who finished the Tsuruya Open tied 20th last week, made three birdies and a bogey to be three shots back from Kenichi Kuboya (65) of Japan.

Meantime on the Nationwide Tour, Tim Wilkinson has enjoyed a solid start to the South Georgia Classic opening with a one under par 71 to tied 29th after round one.

The Manawatu professional, who is currently 34th on the Nationwide Tour Order of Merit after playing six events, mixed three birdies with two bogeys to be five shots back from the leader American Robert Streb (66).

On the PGA Tour, New Zealand No.1 Danny Lee is in danger of missing the cut at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

The 21-year-old from Rororua carded an even par round of 72 in round one to be tied 69th.

Lee, who finished in a share of 63rd place at the Valero Texas Open last week, is currently 156th on the Fed Ex Cup standings.

He will begin round two seven shots back from American leaders Ken Duke and Cameron Tringale who opened with rounds of seven under 65.
