Few wineries in New Zealand can claim such a proud winemaking history.
Bartul Soljan planted the first Soljan vineyard in New Zealand in 1932 leaving a legacy that has been carried on by his son Frank and then grandson and current owner, Tony Soljan. Today, Soljans Estate Winery represents three generations of winemaking with over 80 years of experience. In 2002; Tony put his own stamp on the family winemaking heritage by realising a lifelong dream, to build his own winery. The state of the art winery complex located in Kumeu, West Auckland is the realisation of that dream.
Situated at the gateway to Kumeu Wine Country, Soljans offers the complete winery experience: from vineyard to glass. The vineyard surrounding the winery is planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinotage but like most Auckland wineries, source the majority of grapes from New Zealand’s proven wine growing regions.
Our Cellar Door stocks the full range of Soljans Estate wines and also features a Gift Shop, offering a great selection of gifts and souvenirs.
Soljans Café is the perfect spot for a relaxed mid-week or weekend lunch and a glass or two of wine. Browse our current seasonal menus and when your mouth is watering, book a table. We also cater for younger guests with a dedicated Childrens Menu and outdoor play area.
What makes Soljans Estate wines taste so good?
Soljans Legacy Méthode TraditionnelleBy skillfully marrying traditional with modern techniques, we produce stylish, richly flavoured wines. Most of the white wines are cool-fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve their very delicate aromas and flavours. Our grapes are sourced from key viticultural regions around New Zealand: Kumeu, Hawke's Bay, Gisborne and Marlborough.
To enhance their complexity and richness our Chardonnays are fermented and matured in French Oak Barriques and our red wines are also barrel-aged.
